Sagan, Carl; Druyan, Ann (1985) ‘Comet’, US signed first edition association copy
Carl Sagan and Ann Druyan (1985) ‘Comet‘, US first edition, first printing, published by Random House. Signed and inscribed to Bruce C. Murray who was, together with Carl Sagan, the co-founder of The Planetary Society. Signed by Carl and Anne below the inscription: “12/7/85 For Bruce, While our finest TPS [The Planetary Society] effort — to get a mission to Comet Halley — did not succeed, I think we have much to be proud of on this fifth anniversary of the Society [in Sagan’s hand]. And X (kiss) Suzanne with our warmest regards, [in Druyan’s hand] Annie + Carl.”
A wonderful association and beutiful inscription, unusual to find a lengthy inscription like this with such excellent provenance.
Condition of book is fine, near fine for pedantic judges.
Following Sagan’s massive success uf the TV-Series and book ‘Cosmos’, Carl and his wife Ann Druyan co-wrote ‘Comet’ just in time for the close to earth flyby of Halley’s Comet in 1986. The next flyby is expected for 2061.
