In addition, signed by illustartor Jim Kay ‘with warm wishes’ with a sketch of a bat at the bottom of the page. The book that won Ness his first Carnegie Medal. Illustrated by Jim Kay who is currently illustrating the entire Harry Potter ouvre.

‘A Monster Calls’ won the Carnegie Medal. The idea for the book stems from Siobhan Dowd. Illustrator Jim Kay won the Greenaway Medal for his artistic input, making this an unprecedented twin win for author and illustrator.
The story has been adapted as an excellent film in 2016 starring Sigourney Weaver, Felicity Jones, and Liam Neeson, and Lewis MacDougall in a stunning performance.
