Herbert George Wells (1895) ‘The Stolen Bacillus and Other Incidents‘, UK first edition, first printing, published by Methuen & Co. Correct first issue with the catalogue at the back dated September 1895. With an original handwritten card by Wells pasted on the front pastedown which says “I shall look for you also H.G.W.”

Condition: an at least very good copy if not better. The boards have retained their orginal blue colour. Slight rubbing here and there as to be expected. Lovely spine. No reparation jobs. The ffep has a bookplate and is a little foxed. Internally clean.

A collection of short stories which all appeared in 1894 in various magazines. 1895 saw the publication of Wells’ four fictional works published: ‘The Time Machine’; ‘The Wonderful Visit’; the short story collection ‘Select Conversation with an Uncle…’; and ‘The Stolen Bacillus’. A rare book by the father of modern Britsh sci-fi.
