Thomas Stearns Eliot (1960) ‘Four Quartets‘, UK signed limited edition, published by Faber & Faber, printed at the Officina Bodoni. One of only 290 signed and numbered copies of which this is no. 121. A beautiful production. Quarter-bound vellum with marbled boards.
Condition: a near fine copy. Typical faint ageing spots on the quarter vellum. Internally clean throughout with no scribbles, no bookplates, no stamps. One light diagonal crease on title page. Otherwise like new. Lacking the original slipcase. However, Copies usually sellf for GBP 2,500 upwards with the slipcase wihich is often damaged.
The ‘Four Quartets’ was originally published between 1940 and 1942 in four thin stapled paperbacks. The poem is regarded as one of the best and most influential of the 20th century contributing to Eliot’s 1948 Nobel Prize.
