Asimov, Isaac (2012) ‘Foundation’ trilogy, Folio Society edition with original signed letter
Isaac Asimov (2012) ‘Foundation‘ trilogy, published by the Folio Society in the UK. This is a first printing set. Together with an original letter signed by Isaac Asimov. The set consists of ‘Foundation’; ‘Foundation and Empire’, and ‘Second Foundation’, beautifully illustrated by Alex Wells.
The letter is typed and signed by Asimov with his full name. Beautiful humerous content where Asimov indirectly refers to his Foundation novels where his heroes travel across Galaxies with ease whilst Asimov himself sufferes from aviophobia too scared to fly from New York to Chicago to attend a conference. The letter comes with the original envelope and Asimov’s N.Y. address. It is in near fine condition with usual centre folds to fit the envelope. Some archival tape at the edges, presumably when the letter was filed/ framed by the previous owner.
The book set:
The books are beautifully illustarted by Alex Wells, and introduced by Nobel Prize winner in economics Paul Krugman who read and reread the novels countless times in his youth. Books are in fine condition. The slipcase has a small split at the top as shown.
Asimov’s ‘Foundation’ trilogy belongs into the 20th century science fiction canon. Originally published in the 1950s by Gnome Press it quickly became very popular and ASimov later publiched a few prequels and sequels in the 70s/ 80s
