Capote, Truman (1966) ‘In Cold Blood’, US signed first edition

Truman Capote (1966) ‘In Cold Blood‘, US first edition, first printing, published by Random House. Signed on the half-title page by actor Robert Blake who played one of the murderers in the 1967 film adaptation. Also, possibly signed by Truman Capote (see description below).

Condition: a very good copy in like price clipped dust jacket. One splash on the fron board next to the TC initials stamp as shown. Otherwise clean. Former bookseller ticket on the rear pastedown.

Provenance: we bought this book at an auction in California where the auctioneer sold this as Blake’s personal copy. A photograph of Robert Blake autographing pictures is loosely laid in. The Blake signature certainly matches other examples. The Truman Capote signature is hard to verify as Capote had a child-like handwriting. At the same time it is not a difficult signature to forge, and the only way of obtaining a signed copy with a rock solid warrantee is by buying one of the 500 signed limited copies. We have priced accordingly.
