Burroughs, Edgar Rice (1934) ‘Tarzan and the Lion Man’, US signed and inscribed first edition, family association copy
Octavo. 318 pages. Frontespiece and four illustrations by John Allen St. John. Unusual publisher’s original grey cloth lettered in black (not the usual royal blue).
In a very scarce example of a promotional dust jacket which praises the new Tarzan novel printed on the verso.
Condition: slight leaning forward, spine toned and with a small scuffed spot; boards worn at corners and spine tips; contents lightly toned, else very good condition. The dust jacket is unfaded and vibrant, with one horizontal crease and another vertical one along the spine where the promotional dustjacket was originally folded. Minor edgewear and a few other faint creases on the front flap. Very good book in lik dj.
Tarzan and the Lion Man is the nineteen Tarzan novel and one among those having the shortest print run: only 5,245 copies including for the first and second printing. Scarce signed or inscribed of the seminal Tarzan series.
