Marquez, Gabriel Garcia (1970) ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’, US first edition, first state
Gabriel Garcia Marquez (1970) ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’, first edition, first printing, first state. Published in the US by Harper and Row. This is the true first English language edition in the iconic first state dust jacket with an exclamation mark at the end of the first paragraph of text on the front flap.
Condition: near fine in a very good dust jacket. The book has no inscriptions of any sorts, no library stamps, no bumping, to tearing, no foxing, very minor shelf wear. A very close to fine copy. The first state dust jacket is NOT price clipped. It has a few very close tears and minor shelf wear. At the top of the reverse side there is some residue which could be rubbed off. We prefer not to tinker with this. Overall, one of the best copies on the market in the exceptionally scarce first state dust jacket. If first state dust jackets are found, they are usually price clipped or otherwise damaged.
