Clive Staples Lewis (1950) ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe‘, UK first edition, first printing, published by Bles. The first book in the seminal and beloved Chronicles of Narnia series.

Condition: a very good copy in a like dust jacket. One young person’s neat previous owner’s name on the half title page. A few foxing spots to the page block edges. Internally clean and none of the illustrations are coloured in as often seen. The green cloth boards have mostly retained their original colour apart from a few areas at the edges where the dust jacket had a few small chips. As usual the spine shows ghosting from the dust jacket art. We have not seen a single copy where this has not happened over time. The original first state dust jacket is NOT price clipped showing the correct 8s 6d net price. No reviews of subsequent Narnia titles on the rear fla as called for. The dust jacket has been professionaly restored by a leading British conservatinist. A few tears have been mended and small chips filled.

A beautiful specimen of one of the most coveted children books of all time.
