King, Stephen (1978) ‘The Stand’, US signed and inscribed first edition
Stephen King (1978) ‘The Stand‘, US first edition, first printing, published by Doubleday. Signed and inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper: “To Dorothy – with best wishes, Stephen King. 5/20/96” . Housed in an aftermarket magnetic solander case.
Condition: a very good book in like dust jacket. There are no previous owners’ scribbles, no names, no stamps. The boards are square albeit with some smudges to the rear. The cloth spine displays a little rubbing to the head as shown. A few brown stains to prelims. Internally clean. The dust jacket is NOT price clipped, with edge wear to spine and browned spine. The flaps and front and rear cover nice. A nice specimen of a landmark King book. Beautifully inscribed on the front free endpaper.
One of 70,000 copies printed with all first issue points present: ‘First Edition’ statement on the copyright page and T39 gutter code in the margins of the last page. The dust jacket is correctly priced at USD 12.95.
Adapted as a TV-series in 1994, and once more in 2019/20. Considered by many King fans as his best novel. Gained almost prophetic qualities following the Covid-19 pandemic.
