Richard Marsten (aka Ed McBain, aka Evan Hunter, born Salvatore Albert Lombino) (1953) ‘Rocket to Mars’, US first edition and first printing, signed and inscribed to American author and humorist Gary K. Wolf, known for a series of novels featuring Roger Rabbit.
Condition: near fine in a very good dust jacket which has one tear and a two square centimetre loss to the upper right corner of the front panel. As a signed first edition this is exceptionally hard to find.
‘Rocket to Mars’ is a young adult science fiction novel from 1950s, written during the Golden Age of science fiction, published by The John C. Winston Company. The dust jacket and endpapers were illustrated by the iconic artist Alex Schomburg who won several Hugos for his art. Several young writers contributed to the 37 volumes strong Winston Science Fiction series from 1952 until 1961, including Arthur C Clarke and Lester del Rey. The series was supposed to entertain as well as educate young readers in the science behind the respective novels.
