Salman Rushdie (1975) ‘Grimus’, first edition, first printing, published by Gollancz in the UK. Signed on the title page. Rushdie’s scarce debut novel, signed to us in person at a literature event in Oxford on 09 October 2017.

Condition: near fine with slight shelf wear. Top page block edges are a little darkened compared to the bottom page block. Dust jacket in near fine with no fading to the spine which is rare, not clipped.

Thanks to the GBP900 which Rushdie received for the science fiction novel ‘Grimus’ the young author could travel in India for a few months and undertake the required research for his seminal masterpiece ‘Midnight’s Children’ (1981). Rushdie has won it all including the Booker Prize, the Booker of all Bookers, and he is a hot candidate for the Nobel Prize.
