Herbert, Frank (1976) ‘Children of Dune’, US signed first edition

Frank Herbert (1976) ‘Children of Dune’, US first edition, first printing, published by Berkley Putnam. Signed and inscribed by Herbert on the ffep: “For Neal, keep on trucking – [signature] april ’76”. Inscribed around the time of publication. The final volume of the original ‘Dune’ trilogy which was later followed by three more Frank Herbert ‘Dune’ books which, however, did not come up to the level of the first three books. The ‘Dune’ universe was then continued by Brian Herbert, Frank’s son.

Condition: a fine book in a near fine dust jacket which has a trifle of light fading on the pine. Otherwise a gem. Tha majority of signed copies on the market are either reprints or book club copies. This is the true first edition and first printing. Quite scarce.

‘Dune’ is by far the best science fiction book ever published. A film adaptation in the 80s directed by visionary filmmaker David Lynch was unfortunately badly cut. A new version directed by Denis Villeneuve is on its way.
