Hoban, Russell (1980) ‘Riddley Walker’, UK first edition and uncorrected proof
Russell Hoban (1980) ‘Riddley Walker‘, UK first edition, first printing, published by Jonathan Cape. Plus and an uncorrected proof copy.
Condition: the first trade edition is in very good plus condition with a whiff of foxing to the page block and slight shelf wear. Dust jacket vg and not price clipped. The proof copy is in near fine condition as pictured. Protected in removable mylar.
Proof copies are quite scarce so this may be a bargain.
‘Riddley Walker’ is considered a modern classic and testimony of what language can achieve. Interestingly, The Folio Society – usually know to give special treatments to absolute classics only – gave ‘Riddley Walker’ a limited edition treatment with illustrations by Sir Quentin Blake.
