Golding, William (1954) ‘Lord of the Flies’, first edition with autograph

William Golding (1954) Lord of Flies. The true UK first edition and first printing of one of the defining novels of 20th century fiction published by Faber and Faber. A hand signed autograph and picture loosely laid in. The autograph comes with a certificate of authenticity

The book contributed greatly to Golding’s 1983 Nobel Prize in Literature. Golding also won the Booker Prize in 1980 for ‘Rites of Passage’.

Condition: very good. The boards are red and vibrant in the original colour except a tiny bit of fading on the top of the spine. The book has no inscriptions, no library stamps of any sorts. The top page block edges are a bit dusty, the other sides of the page block are fine. The dust jacket is NOT price clipped. The spine of the wrapper is a little browned compared to the original colouring as seen on the front and back. There are very minor chips to the edges of the folds where fortifying professional tape is protecting the wrapper from tearing. The dust jack is still taut.
