Asimov, Isaac (1982) ‘Foundation’s Edge’, US signed first edition, first state

Isaac Asimov (1982) ‘Foundation’s Edge‘, US first edition, first printing, first state, published by Doubleday & Company. First state with the correct gutter code M36 on page 365. Signed on the tile page ‘To Warren, Isaac Asimov # 35’. Very uncommon as a signed first edition. More frequent is the signed limited edition which trades at much lower prices.

Condition: very good. Slight lean and typical light shelf wear showing som rubbing to edges. Gift inscription on front pastdown which is not visible behind the dust jacket’s front flap. Light foxing of endpapers. Dust jacket is NOT price clipped with a little edge wear.

This is the fourth novel and late sequel to the seminal ‘Foundation’ science fiction trilogy which was published in the early 1950s. Doubleday begged Asimov to write a sequel for years and after paying him a hefty advance Asimov penned ‘Foundation’s Edge’ which won the 1983 Hugo, was nominated for the Nebula and – unsurprisingly – became a bestseller.
