Provenance: Signed to us at a November 2019 promotional event for Barnes’ book ‘The Man in the Red Coat’.

Condition: a very good copy which is colour faded on the spine; light shelf wear. No previous owner’s scribbles, no names, no stamps, no bookplates. Near fine dust jacket which is NOT price clipped with very light edge wear. Comes with the scarce belly band which is faded on the spine as shown.

Barnes’ debut novel which won him the Somerset Maugham Award. Adapted in 1997 starring Christian Bale and Emily Watson. Barnes is together with Ian McEwan the best contemporary English writer of his generation and he has been accoladed multiple time including with the David Cohen Prize for Literature and the 2011 (Man) Booker Prize.
