Capote, Truman (1951) ‘The Grass Harp’, US first edition and signed association copy

Truman Capote (1951) ‘The Grass Harp’, US first edition, first printing, published by Random House. And a first edition, third printing published by Random House which is signed to Rita Allan: “for Rita [Allen] who so much helped to make the Grass Harp come alive on the stage, Truman”. Rita Allen co-produced ‘The Grass Harp’ as a play on Broadway in 1952. This makes the book a unique association copy. A great value offer.

Condition: the first print copy is practically mint with a stunning dust jacket. The signed third printing copy lacks a corresponding dust jacket and shows signs of shelf wear, in particular to the edges. The last pictures show the difference between a first and later print (coarse cloth vs plain cloth).

The first play performance on Broadway was in March 1952 to wide acclaim.
