Truman Capote (1965) ‘In Cold Blood‘, US signed limited edition, published by Random House. One of only 500 copies of which this is the very low number 11. Bound in black buckram with gilt lettering in original acetate dust jacket and publisher’s slipcase. Signed and numbered by Capote in blue ink on the colophon page.
Condition: The book square and tight, as new but for a very light shadow of fading to the red top stain, pages absolutely clean and unmarked. the acetate dust jacket is fine without any tears or chips, with a small spot at the base of spine (which can be easily cleaned). The fragile slipcase is near fine with minor wear and  minimal traces of dirt on the lower side from sliding ain and out of the shelf. One of the best copies we have ever seen sweetened by the low limitation number.
Due to the somewhat ‘childish’ handwriting of Truman Capote his signature has been forged on trade first editions. Flat signed copies are therefore to be avoided. SInce this is an official signed limited edition the buyer can rest assured that the signature is authentic.
‘In Cold Blood’ was first published in four parts in ‘The New Yorker’ beginning with the September issue. Random House published the first hardback issue in January 1966. The book is considered a landmark non-fiction book, or ‘non-fiction novel’.  It was nominated for the Pulitzer but failed to win. The story of the quadruple murder in Holcomb, Kansas was researched together with the help of ‘Mockingbird’ author Harper Lee. It was adapted for cinema for the first time in 1967, and once more as a TV-mini series in 2002. Capote’s research for the book was also shown in ‘Capote’ (2005) played by the late Philip Seymour Hoffman who won an Oscar for his role, and in ‘Infamous’ (2006).
