‘In Cold Blood’ was first published in four parts in ‘The New Yorker’ beginning with the September issue. Random House published the first hardback issue in January 1966. The book is considered a landmark non-fiction book, or ‘non-fiction novel’.  It was nominated for the Pulitzer but failed to win. The story of the quadruple murder in Holcomb, Kansas was researched together with the help of ‘Mockingbird’ author Harper Lee. It was adapted for cinema for the first time in 1967, and once more as a TV-mini series in 2002. Capote’s research for the book was also shown in ‘Capote’ played by Philip Seymour Hoffman who won an Oscar for his role, and in ‘Infamous’ (2006).
