Winston Churchill (1951) ‘The Second World War – The Hinge of Fate‘, voulme IV of the six books series on WWII, UK first edition, first printing, published by Cassell. Signed and inscribed in ink by Winston Churchill: “For John Biggs-Davison from Winston Churchill, 1951”. Sir John Alec Biggs-Davison (1918- 1988) was MP for the Conservatives from 1955 until his death in 1988. A wondeful association.

Condition: a very good copy with no previous owner’s scribbles, no bookplates, no stamps. Some light shelf wear. The dust jacket is the correct first issue jacket, priced 25s. Slight edge wear with minor chipping and slight fade on spine.

‘The Hinge of Fate’ focuses on the war arena in Asia. Churchill’s ‘The Second Waorld War’; would contribute significantly to earning him the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1953.
