Coetzee, JM (1974) ‘Dusklands’, signed true first edition association copy

JM Coetzee (1974) ‘Dusklands’, South African first edition, first printing, published by Raven Press. Signed and inscribed to Eugene Vance on the ffep: “For Eugene Vance, with best wishes, John Coetzee”. Vance was a Professor at the University of Washington who taught comparative literature. Coetzee himself was an academic in the same field working in the States and later in South Africa so both academics must have crossed paths at conferences on several occasions. A scarce first book of the Nobel Prize and double Booker Prize winner as the true first edition.

Condition: very good with slight shelf wear, foxing to the endpapers and foxing to the boards. Dust jacket has minor chips and wear to the extremities.
