Roald Dahl (1975) ‘Danny, The Champion of the World‘, US signed and inscribed first edition. Inscribed by Dahl on the ffep in the year of publication: “Lesley | Love | Roald | Oct 1975”.

Condition: a very good copy. No previous owner’s inscription, no bookplates, no stamps. The boards are clean and without bumps. The lettering on the cloth spine clear and NOT rubbed out. A few foxing spots to the page block edges and a few brown sprinkles to the bottom page block edge as shown. The brown top stain is present as called for. The dust jacket is slightly faded on the spine. A wonderful copy.

Danny, The Champion of the World is Dahl’s eighth novel for children, and perhaps the best father-and-son adventure story ever told. It was adapted as a TV-film (1989) starring Jeremy Irons. The book was published in February 1975, and the US edition is considered the true first edition.
