Condition: a near fine proof copy. The wraps are not faded, not rubbed. Slight shelf wear only. No previos owners’ scribbles, internally clean with no underlinings, no corrections etc. No foxing. Very well preserved and overall a beautiful specimen and easily the best copy on the market.

The proofs, apart from being the earliest possible format of the printed text, are much scarcer than the first editions. It is assumed that about 500 copies were printed and not many will have survived the passage of time. The book is much thicker than the trade hardback edition, and features many errors that have been corrected.
