Frederick Forsyth (2014) ‘The Day of the Jackal‘, UK illustrated edition, published by the Folio Society. First and only printing (first edition thus). Signed on the half-title page by the author.
Beautifully produced edition with a smart design: pictorial boards and a slipcase with a cut out circle resembling a rifle’s target peephole. When the book is housed in the slipcase the silhoutte of Charles De Gaulle is visible. Illustrated throughout with numerous atmospheric black-and-white pictures by Tatsuro Kiuchi. Introduced by Ken Follet.
Provenance of the signature: signed to us in person at the Cheltenham Literature Fesival on 11 October 2018.
Condition: both book and slipcase are in fine condition.
‘The Day of the Jackal’ received the Edgar Allen Poe Award in 1972. It was filmed in 1973 as a blockbuster movie. The book has become an international bestseller with sales hitting over 2.5 million copies by 1975 alone.
