Kenneth Grahame (1908) ‘The Wind in the Willows‘, UK first edition, first printing, published by Methuen.
Condition: a very good copy. The binding is tight with the original original boards. There is some usual shelf wear including minor rubbing, but far less than the majority of copies on the market. The front board’s gilded design is NOT rubbed out and vibrant. The spine’s design is also vibrant and clear. There is some rubbing at the bottom spine as seen affecting the first and last letters of the Methuen label. The tissue guard is present. Occasional foxing inside (we have displayed examples of typical pages for worst and best examples). The rough cut paper edges are clean as shown. Top gild present but dulled as to be expected for a book of that age. No previous owners’ inscription of any sorts, no bookplates, no stamps. No dust jacket as the vast majority of the original wrappers have not survived the passage of time. A very nice copy of one of the absolute classics of children literature.
