One of only 250 copies of which this is no. 177. Full green leather binding with pictorial gilt on front. Five raised bands and gilded information on spine. Comes with the original card board slipcase.

Condition: a near fine copy with just a little discolouration on the spine. No previous owners’ inscriptions inside, no stamps, no bookplates.

A landmark book of children fiction, orginally published by Methuen in October 1908 (we also have the true first edition in stock). A limited edition, illustrated by Ernest H. Shepard, the legendary illustrator of inter alia the Winnie-the-Pooh series, followed in 1931 and was signed by Grahame and Shepard.
