Stephen King (1974) ‘Carrie‘, US first edition, first printing, published by Doubleday. Signed and inscribed by King on the half-title page: “For Neal in the Pit – Hell has it’s own barbecue… and the pork is always smokin’! Best, [signature] 3/15/94”. A beautiful and original inscription to Neal Tucker, the owner of ‘The PIT BBQ Restaurant and Catering’ who sent the book to Stephen in 1994 for signing. The original letter explaining the provenance will be provided with the book.
Condition: the most mint copy you will ever find. Corners sharp; no foxing anywhere; no previous owners’ inscriptions whatsoever; paper white like snow; no lean; no stench; no nothing. The dust jacket is taut; not price clipped with the original first issue price of $5.95; fresh and mint; now protected in removable mylar.
All first issue points present: ‘First Edition’ on copyright page and ‘P6’ gutter code in the inner margin of page 199. Without any shadow of doubt one the best ‘Carrie’ first editions on the market.
‘Carrie’, the master of horror’s debut novel has been adapted multiple times as feature films, theatre plays and Broadway Musicals. It launched King’s long and successful career and the man has never stopped writing since. A landmark novel.
