King, Stephen (1986) ‘IT’, US signed and beautifully inscribed first edition

Stephen King (1986) ‘IT‘, US first edition, first printing, published by Viking. Signed and beautifully inscribed in golden ink by the author on the title page: “For Thom Joe – | with best wishes … and beware of clowns | bearing balloons! | Stephen King | 4/12/91.”

This is the true first edition with grey endpapers and quarter-bound in cloth and NOT a book club edition which looks deceptively similar to the untrained eye.

Condition: a near fine copy in a fine NOT clipped dust jacket. There are no previous owner’s scribbles inside, no bookplates, no stamps. Boards are clean. Very light rubbing to the bottome edges from sliding on the shelf. There is a very faint whiff of foxing to the top page block.

A beautiful copy of on of King’s fan favourites and signature novels from the 1980s. With this inscription referring to the monster clown Pennywise makes this special indeed. Adapted into a TV series and a more recent two part Hollywwod film production. a book that will always hold its value.
