Javier Marias (1995) ‘A Heart So White’, UK first edition, first printing, published by Harvill. Signed and inscribed by Marias on the title page. Unusual to find his books inscribed as opposed to flat signed copies. Also, the UK first edition precedes the US first edition as the first English language issue of the novel.

A Heart So White (Corazón Tan Blanco in org Spanish) won the prestigious IMPAC Award, and became his breakthrough novel in the Anglo-Saxon world. The late Javier Marias has received numerous accolades for his intelligent, introspective novels, all written in a unique, distinguished voice. Interestingly, Marias himself was a bibliophile and collected English and Spanish first and rare editions. As an Anglophile who lived two years in Oxford the translations into English are important.
