Annie Edna Proulx (1993) ‘The Shipping News‘, US first edition, first printing, published by Scribner’s. Signed and warmly inscribed to a former Yale Professor: “To J. B | on a snowy day in | February 1994. | Long may your | big jib draw – | Annie Proulx”.

Condition: a near fine copy with a faint whiff of foxing on the top and front page block. One bump to lower edge of the front board. Dust jacket is NOT price clipped showing the USD 20 price as called for.

The Shipping News won Proulx the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 1994 and catapulted the author into literary stardom. The novel also received the 1993 National Book Award for Fiction. The story was adapted into the decent 2001 film starring a stellar cast.
