Rowling. J.K. (1999) ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban’, UK signed first edition, first state
J.K. Rowling (1999) ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban‘, UK first edition, first printing, first state, published by Bloomsbury. Signed and inscribed by Rowling on the front free endpaper (ffep): “with best wishes! [signature]”. First state with ‘Joanne Rowling’ on the copyright page, and incorrect text block on p. 7 as called for.
Condition: very fine. An unread and flawless copy in all aspects. Slight yellowing to paper edges commensurate with age (natural ageing process due to the paper quality used by Bloomsbury). The dust jacket is very fine too and protected in removable mylar. The book is housed in a sturdy custom made slipcase.
The third volume in the seminal Harry Potter series that took the book world by storm igniting Pottermania amongst kids. The first print run consisted of 5,150 copies including all three states. The general assumption is that the first state of the first edition made up about 2,500 copies of the entire print run of 5,150 copies (see Philip W. Errington (2017) ‘J.K. Rowling: A Bibliography, pp. 185-87). Highly collectable, especially in this beautiful condition. A book that has been going up in value every year since publication.
