Rushdie, Salman (1988) ‘The Satanic Verses’, signed first edition

Salman Rushdie (1988) ‘The Satanic Verses’, first edition, first printing, published by Viking in the UK. Signed and inscribed by Rushdie ‘To Humour’. The book was signed to us in person at a literature event in Bath on 25 May 2017. Rushdie talked about how a great many things were said about the book except that it was funny. Hence we thought it appropriate to have the book dedicated ‘to Humour’ also in defiance to what happened to Salman following the publication of the novel. A rare landmark book which was shortlisted for the Booker Prize and is one of the most known novels of our time, uniquely signed.

Condition: near fine. Only flaw is the slightly dusty top page block edge, and the faded spine of the dust jacket which is very common. Otherwise a beautiful copy. (Apologies for the picture quality; flash was used)
