David Foster Wallace (1987) ‘The Broom of the System‘, US first edition, first printing, published by Viking. Signed on the title page without further inscriptions. The ultra rare hardback first edition which had an exceptionally low print run of 1,300 copies only. In the 1980s, the States still had a functioning public library system so most copies ended up there with the usual stamp treatment. This copy is like new!

Condition: fine in a fine dust jacket. An absolute beauty of a book as our images show. Usual toning to paper edges commensurate with age. Otherwise like new. Price is NOT clipped.

The author’s first novel which was followed by his masterpiece ‘Infinite Jest’. A cult author who sadly committed suicide and left this world to early. He was an important voice of the so-called ‘Generation X’ and criticised consumerism, capitalism and the general shallow way of life.
