Williams, Gordon M. (1968) ‘From Scenes Like These’, UK first edition

Gordon Maclean Williams (1968) ‘From Scenes Like These‘, UK first edition, first printing, published by Martin Secker & Warburg.

Condition: a very good copy. No inscriptions, no bookplates, no stamps of any sorts. No lean. Boards clean and corners sharp. Slight shelf wear to spine tips. Moderate foxing to top page block. No foxing to bottom pabe block. Internally, pages clean throughout as shown. The dust jacket is NOT price clipped displaying the 35s net price. Light spotting on the reverse and minor shelf wear.

Perhaps the rarest of all Booker Prize titles. The book was shortlisted for the inaugural Booker Prize in 1969 (the year P.H. Newby won with ‘Something to Answer For’). We have seen very few copies ever come on the market.
