Condition: a near fine copy with a little foxing on the page block and prelims. No bookplates, no previous owners’ scribbles. Boards clean and tight. The dust jacket has no rubbing, no tears, no chips. A whiff of foxing. A nice copy of Coetzee’s first book which as a South African first edition preceeds the UK first edition by almost an entire decade! Not easy to find with such a dust jacket.

Coetzee’s scarce debut novel which launched a stellar career leading to two (Man) Booker Prize wins (1983 and 1999), the Nobel Prize in 2003 and countless other accolades.
