The Sense of An Ending has won the 2011 Booker Prize. A forthcoming movie adaptation by the BBC will feature actors Jim Broadbent, Charlotte Rampling, Harriet Walter, Emily Mortimer and Michelle Dockery.

Barnes is furthermore the recipient of the prestigious David Cohen Prize. He was shortlisted for the Booker prize three more times.
