The novel was shortlisted for the Booker Prize, the Arthur C Clarke Award and the National Book Critics’ Circle Award. Time Magazine also put it on the ‘One Hundred Best English-language Novels published between 1923 and 2005’ list. It was adapted as a film starring Keira Knightley and Carey Mulligan in 2010.

Kazuo Ishiguro won the Booker Prize in 1989 for ‘The Remains of the Day’. In 2016 he received the Nobel Prize.
