Isaac Asimov (2012) ‘Foundation‘ trilogy, published by the Folio Society in the UK. Together with an original letter signed by Isaac Asimov (please see below for details) with the corresponding mailing envelope. The set consists of ‘Foundation’; ‘Foundation and Empire’, and ‘Second Foundation’, beautifully illustrated by Alex Wells.
The letter (dated November 1980) is typed and signed by Asimov with ‘Isaac’. Beautiful content. Asimov answers twelve questions regarding the influence of myths and legends (folklore) on Isaac Asimov’s writing. The letter comes with the original envelope and Asimov’s N.Y. address. The letter is in near fine condition with usual centre folds to fit the envelope and a tiny chip to the left margin, not affecting the content. This also comes with two carbon copies of the 12 questions that the President of the British folklore society asked Asimov, as well as the subsequent thank you letter.
The book set:
The books are beautifully illustarted by Alex Wells, and introduced by Nobel Prize winner in economics Paul Krugman who read and reread the novels countless times in his youth. Books are in fine condition and still sealed.
Asimov’s ‘Foundation’ trilogy belongs into the 20th century science fiction canon. Originally published in the 1950s by Gnome Press it quickly became very popular and ASimov later publiched a few prequels and sequels in the 70s/ 80s
